Carter's Portfolio

So Carter's Inc. (a baby/young child clothing company) offered interested juniors and seniors a chance to participate in their 1 day workshop on campus. All we had to do was submit 10 portfolio pieces. In the end, they chose 10 seniors to be a part of their workshop. However in our desire for Carter's to consider us, many (if not everyone) applying created patterns and characters especially for them. I had a lot of fun doing these and would love to continue working like this.

Visual Development

Visual Development/Concept Sketches: The ideation and creation of characters/cars/animals/props/environments. Pretty much anything you can think of in any movie/tv show/game and even toys.

Here are some some concept artwork from Disney's Tangled:

If you still don't get it or just want to see more stuff, go to google and type in
"*insert movie/game title* concept art"

I thought I would love to do that kind of stuff. I learned that I don't. I still think the assignments sound fun and start out great but it's not my cup of tea. None the less, I am finishing the class and here are 3 assignments (the props are due tomorrow so they don't get the preliminary work) from start to finish.

Invented Anima Silhouettes: So again, we were randomly assigned an animal (mine was a cacomistle) and we had to keep the basic skeleton structure, but make an animal that looks nothing like the original.

Rough Vehicle Sketches; For this assignment, we were given a word at random and had to create 3 different vehicles (medic, scout and aggressor). One was chosen to take to full render. My word was kawaii (Japanese cute. Feel free to look it up to get a sense of it, but essentially everything gets an adorable face).

Props: A show on broadway is missing some set pieces. The crew has 6 hours to create new pieces for tonight's show. I chose Phantom of the Opera so I could stick to a story and have a theme in mind. The flashlights replaced the stolen candles.
Props: The gong replaced the stolen organ .
